Theater played a big role at the fair. The playwright Artan directed young actors, who performed lively and amusing sketches. The director of the book fair, Jama Musse Jama, says a major aim is to provide youth with an alternative to guns, which are often the only option for young Somalilanders, especially those in All regions of somaliland which have been affected by conflict for more than two decades.
